end of a Covid 19 summer
In Central Square we prepared for winter planting

customers of the coffee shop enjoyed the last of the summer displays ....

......but soon June and Sheila were planning and directing the removal of tender plants in preparation for the winter displays ......

.... and volunteers set to work to clear the planters ......

.... while engaging with passers by.
Finally the plants were taken away for over wintering in protected conditions.

The very next week volunteers were out again installing pansies in the circular planters. They (the pansies, not the volunteers!) will be regularly dead headed through the winter to ensure continued flowering

The planters are useful for maintaining social distance, and the bees are still attracted by the late flowers

Finally we installed the winter barrier baskets, and they look great
